FlyCoring, or FlyCore Fishing, is a technique that uses a conventional rod and reel, along with leadcore line. It is an offshoot of trolling with streamers, on fast sinking fly line, using a traditional fly rod setup. The result is the ability to present a nearly weightless fly down to whatever depth you choose!
With the proper boat speed, leadcore will take your fly down approximately 5 ft per color of leadcore that you let out. For example, 4 colors = 20 ft, 7 colors = 35 ft. This will give you the opportunity to reach fish sitting next to that rockpile in 50ft of water, and give them something they wouldn't normally be able to see - that Producer Fly sliding silently in front of their face resembling an easy meal!
Originally developed to target striped bass in deep Southern California reservoirs, it has been proven very effective on multiple species of gamefish. If your favorite fish eats some type of baitfish, then FlyCoring should definitely help you put fish in the boat. Try it today, you'll be glad you did!
